We’re soon coming to the point where we’ll all get tired of hearing about her, but I’m not done with this new Hollywood star yet!

There’s been loads of buzz, and even more buzz kill!

This is ridiculously funny.

And then there was the photoshopped image of Larry Madowo wearing the red Ralph Lauren gown that Lupita wore at the Golden Globes.
I can’t even bring myself to upload that image. Just google it.

That said, Lupita Nyong’o deserves all the international hype she’s continued to receive, after she took home an Oscar award for the Best Supporting Actress, outperforming seasoned Hollywood stars and co-nominees, Jennifer Lawrence and Julia Roberts.

1. This girl can a.c.t!
She never held anything back, while playing Patsy in 12 Years a Slave.
Have you seen her facial expressions? No?
Here’s one:

Can you press your face like that?

I would love for you to go in to a bathroom, lock yourself up and attempt to pull that dramatic expression. Do not make the catastrophic attempt to do this in front of a child.
I tried it in front of the bathroom mirror. I screamed at the thing staring back at me.
Lupita has truly mastered the art of owning her role.

2. A Unique Case For Hollywood
A regular African girl. First time movie! She was not the star of the film; the spotlight would have naturally fallen on Chiwetel Ejiofor – for twelve years, he was the slave!
Lupita creeped up on Hollywood with her graceful, disarming nature…nobody saw it coming!

Nobody’s complaining, either. She’s the new Hollywood darling..

3. Who else has ever had their lip balm totally sold out, 24 hours after wearing it to the Oscars?

According to Clarin’s company-spokesman, Lupita’s ‘favorite’ lip balm, Clarins HydraQuench Moisture Replenishing Lip Balm had been sold out across the United States in less than 24 hours after she gave it to Ellen Degeneres.
Oscar host, Ellen, walked through the A-List audience collecting money for her impromptu pizza-party, but Lupita gave her the $24 lip-balm because she didn’t have any money. Ellen took it, retorting “Lupita’s lip-balm! That’s worth something!”
Less than 24 hours later, the expensive Vaseline had sold out.

4. She made history!
The very first Kenyan – no, the first African – to win an Academy Award. She is also the second African to win a prestigious Academy Award in an acting category. The honors went to the South African Charlize Theron, ten years ago.
Lupita’s win wasn’t just a Kenyan fete. The continent adores her! As one journalist aptly put it, “she seldom fails to claim Africa – Africa claims her back.”

  1. I applaud her talent and her exceptional beauty! I have not seen the movie yet, but did see her wonderful, focused, enlightening acceptance speech. That was glorious in every sense of the word…
